Classic advanced retouching: how completely different product photos, stock cats, stock backgrounds, and (client photographed) cat towers were used to create a layered final scene. Additional work with lighting, shadows and scene realism.
My first step (after discussing the client's goals and expectations) was to choose from the client's photos of the product: the cat tower:
Now I had to select two room backgrounds from photo stocks, which I will use to place the scenes with products and cats:
Now it was necessary to choose five cats from photostocks. They weren't cutted out, so I had to think about the choice of photos. Since the scene was planned in bright colors, I've chose the cats on a white background so that after cutting them out from the photos I would not spend too much time on finalizing the lighting:
Now it was necessary to work on the photos of the cat towers themselves: remove imperfections, make color corrections, remove the background, correct the geometry, and so on:
The result of my work is below:
